Enhancing Goodyear’s At-Home Tire Replacement Service
Product Development
Key Takeaways
- Goodyear sought to boost its direct-to-consumer tire service.
- They needed help completing an image analysis platform.
- Taazaa developed robust, scalable APIs and features.
- We completed the work in just four weeks.
The Challenge
The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, a global leader in tire manufacturing, embarked on a pilot project to provide a direct-to-consumer, at-home tire replacement and installation service.
To ensure a seamless and efficient user experience, Goodyear sought a trusted technology partner to build a platform capable of processing customer-supplied tire placard images and extracting necessary specifications for completing tire purchases through its eCommerce systems.
The critical challenge for Goodyear was to build a proof-of-concept (POC) that accurately processed tire placard images sent by customers. This required a platform capable of accurately performing three essential functions:
- Analyzing tire placard images to determine tire specifications
- Validating the functionality of this system before production-level software was developed
- Integrating the platform with Goodyear’s eCommerce systems to support real-time tire sales
Goodyear engaged Taazaa to develop Phase 2 of the image processing platform, focusing on creating production-ready APIs, securing API authentication, and implementing error logging and reporting mechanisms.
The Solution
Our approach focused on rapid development while maintaining high alignment with Goodyear’s business goals. We leveraged our experience in Agile methodologies to ensure the project was delivered on time and met all functional requirements.
The Taazaa team developed robust, scalable, production-ready APIs that processed tire placard images and communicated tire specifications to the designated eCommerce system. We also delivered an easy-to-consume API for Goodyear’s internal eCommerce team to streamline integration.
We implemented OAuth-based API authentication for both APIs to ensure secure data exchanges. Built-in monitoring and error logging functionalities help Goodyear identify and rectify processing issues in real time.
Taazaa’s Agile methodology enabled rapid, iterative development. Regular communication and feedback loops ensured the project stayed aligned with Goodyear’s vision. To accelerate productivity and maintain cost efficiency, we divided the development work between our headquarters in Hudson, Ohio, and our Development Center in Noida, India. Our DevOps engineer ensured a smooth deployment and release management for the APIs.
The Results
By automating the tire placard image processing, Goodyear was able to offer a seamless and hassle-free customer experience, significantly improving the accuracy of tire orders and reducing manual intervention.
Taazaa’s ability to deliver Phase 2 of the image processing platform in just four weeks enabled Goodyear to validate its proof of concept quickly, setting the stage for further development and integration. Goodyear was able to move swiftly from POC validation to production planning.
With OAuth authentication and comprehensive error logging, Goodyear can ensure the secure, reliable operation of the platform, which is critical for scaling the service in the future. The production-ready APIs and secure authentication processes Taazaa implemented were designed for future scalability, positioning Goodyear to expand the project beyond its initial pilot phase.
Through strategic collaboration and technical excellence, Taazaa enabled Goodyear to validate the critical functionalities and position the initiative for success. This partnership reflects Taazaa’s ability to deliver innovative, secure, and scalable solutions that align with business goals, helping clients like Goodyear enhance customer experiences and streamline their operations.
