Firewall

A firewall is a critical security system that acts as a barrier between a trusted, secure internal network and an untrusted, external network, such as the internet. Its primary function is to monitor and control incoming and outgoing network traffic based on predetermined security rules. Firewalls can be implemented as hardware, software, or a combination of both. They analyze data packets and determine whether they should be allowed through or blocked, based on established security policies. This helps prevent unauthorized access, cyber-attacks, and data breaches. Modern firewalls also provide advanced features such as intrusion detection and prevention, virtual private network (VPN) support, and content filtering. By acting as a gatekeeper, firewalls play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of networked resources.
