Next generation concussion assessment
The client offers expert interactive assessment and training for neuromechanical well-being, senior health, orthopedic rehabilitation, and performance enhancement. For the last two decades, the client has been using simulation-based physical gaming techniques to measure and improve the physical performance of athletes.
The client is also a provider of physical therapies for coping with the concussion impacts. Along the way, our client helps in making informed clinical decisions for managing post-concussion symptoms.
Our client needed a software application that could capture and analyze the physical and psychological performance based on the input values provided by the computer-based simulation system. The software application would be such that it could analyze the performance based on input values such as response time, pace, increase in pace, stamina, the height of the jump, efficiency of the cardiovascular system, distance, and caloric expenditure.

The challenge before Taazaa was to ground-up the design for architecture the software solution. We had to engineer the hardware, which consisted of 3D cameras and motion sensors. It could capture the human body across 25 points of motion.
Based on the captured data, a log of the practical trials could be listed for the patients/ athletes. The periodic logs created would allow our application to create a vector report of the person concerned.
The vector report provides graphic and numerical information related to movement as well as asymmetries in the limbs. The system should be able to measure the functional movement capacity in a person along with asymmetries between the left and right sides. This report suggests the measures and actions for the return of previous performance metrics. The analysis of performance metrics also helps in the concussion baseline assessment.
The developed software application was able to provide the standardized and actionable data to healthcare providers, clinicians, caregivers, and coaches to assist the participants in returning to their function, training, and injury prevention decisions.
From sports performance to the physical problems due to age, the application had everything that would fit the needs of the participants. Moreover, the simulation application tackled the shortcomings of existing solutions and was able to offer advanced programs for performance enhancements, neuromechanical health, senior health, and orthopedic care.
